With plethora of corruption charges on its head, the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF has resolved to save it’s head from financial imbroglio by wooing back sponsor who had left the federation following barrages of corruption allegations and charges, Bestchoicesports.com.ng can report

The federation is currently faces various financial impropriety charges levelled against it by various anti-corruption agencies in the country.

In a release on Friday, the federation stated its plans “to win back the confidence of partners/sponsors to Nigeria football in view of the dark clouds that have truncated the efforts to get more private sector involvement into the game

The federation also talked about “possible options to source and/or create support/intervention for the domestic football industry due to the the current circumstances and post COVID-19.

“Further to the meeting with the Minister, the Nigeria Football Federation resolved as follows:

“NFF will constantly review the football calendar as the issues develop and periodically keep stakeholders informed on proposals and plans. The Honourable Minister is working on many channels including but not limited to the setting-up of an Athletes Protection Fund (driven by the private sector) and sourcing for intervention/support funding that could be utilised to support athletes and sports, including the football industry affected by this pandemic.

“The NFF recognises the need to win back the confidence of partners/sponsors to football and intends to arrange private visits and special programs, and will continue to solicit the support of the Honourable Minister in this regard,” part of the release read.

It could be recalled that the NFF top officials have been long drawn into various litigations on maladministration, financial infidelity Ans acquisition of wealth beyond their salary earnings.

Leading the court cases are the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC which early this year arrested, detained and queried top NFF officials fingered in the alleged embezzlement and the Independent Corrupt Practices and other Related Offences Commission, ICPC which seized various property belonging to the NFF bigwigs last year
