The relationship was meant to last for two years but just four years into his two-year contract, Cristiano Ronaldo is set to dump Saudi Arabia Pro League side, Al Nassr.

Ronaldo joined Al Nassr in late December last year

The Portuguese international is said to be nostalgic for his life in Spain and could return to Real Madrid, where Florentino Perez could offer him an ambassador role.

But Real Madrid are willing to offer Ronaldo a non-playing role as an ambassador, according to El Nacional.

The Portugal captain mutually agreed to terminate his contract with Manchester United before World Cup after his explosive interview with Piers Morgan.

The 38-year-old then agreed a £175million-a-year deal until 2025 with the Saudi Arabian club Al Nassr.

The Spanish outlet said: “Florentino Perez has guaranteed that [Ronaldo] will not lack work at the Santiago Bernabeu.

“But, obviously, he wouldn’t do it to be a player, because he considers that it is a cycle that should be considered closed.”

Ronaldo has made 25 appearances for the Pro League side scoring 12 goals.
