A former Nigerian boxer and Olympian, Jeremiah (Jerry) Okorodudu is terribly sick, can’t talk, can’t walk, suffering partial stroke and needs his foot to be amputated

The 64 years old who competed in the men’s middleweight boxing event at the 1984 Summer Olympics in USA has been down with partial stroke for two years and he is currently on admission in a hospital in Ikorodu area of Lagos.

Speaking in an Exclusive Interview with Best Choice Sports Correspondent, the wife of the boxer, Mrs Adenike Okorodudu said the family is in financial need and called on good spirited Nigerians to come to their aide.

She noted that the husband has been suffering partial stroke for close to two years, is diabetic and also has foot ulcer. She added that the doctors are planing to take him to the orthopedic hospital in Lagos for the amputation of his leg

“We need financial help now. That is what he needs now. The current situation is that they want to amputate the leg.

“They said they will take him to Orthopedic (Hospital)but the doctor is asking for a deposit. We could not get the money

“He has been down for partial stroke going to two years now, then he has diabetes before he had foot ulcer,” she said.

The family needs in the region of two million naira to save the life of Mr Jeremiah Okorodudu popularly known as Jerry Okorodudu

Okorodudu, a gold medalist at Oluyole ’79 National Sports Festival in Ibadan, has been down with stroke. In 2022 he was rushed to a hospital along Ikorodu area of Lagos, following a boil that prevented him from walking or standing. He had a successful surgery, but was stuck at the hospital for not being able to foot his medical bills.

Though eventually bailed by few good people, his ailment has relapsed and badly need the help

Jerry Okorodudu is a former African Champion, who also represented nigeria at the 1984 summer Olympic games in Los Angeles, California.

Mr Okorodudu rose to prominence as one of the Nigeria’s most celebrated boxers in the 1980s.
He has been down for years now, battling with Partial Stroke, diabetes and foot ulcer

The former boxer is currently on a sick bed, in a critical condition at Dan’s Hospital no. 46 Thomas Laniyan, Irawo Bus-Stop, Ikorodu, lagos.

He can’t talk nor walk. And he’s battling with Partial Stroke, diabetes and Foot ulcer (Caused by the Diabetes).
