Maikaba who joined Rangers in 2021/2022 season brought his not-too-impressive time with the club to a close on Thursday, 24 hours after he lost the Federation Cup final against Bendel Insurance in Asaba

Best Choices Sports authoritatively gathered that the coach held a valedictory session with the players and management of the club at their camp in Enugu on Thursday where he informed them that he would he taking a leave from football management to spend time with his family.

His assistant coach, Gabriel Ezema also confirmed his departure on his WhatsApp Status, thanking Coach Maikaba for the work experience he shared with him.

“Working with you was a great experience. You gave me unforgettable memories coaching this game. Best of luck in your future endeavors. You are still one of Nigeria’s best. Thank you Coach Abdu Fagge,” he said on his WhatsApp Status posted by 6:21pm on Thursday

Coach Maikaba’s two years saw him failing to guide the team to a continental ticket after ending the 21/22 season 5 and narrowly avoided relegating the club to the Division 2 with just two points above the red zone at the end of the Abridged League

Meanwhile, players of the 2023 Federation Cup Runners Up have been handed a three-week break to resume on 13 of July ahead of the 2023/2024 Nigeria Premier League season.

This paper understands that not all the players will be resuming with the club for the next season as the management informed them that they would contact those they would work with in the coming season.

Many players have their contracts with Rangers ending with the last season and the management hopes to reinforce the team ahead of the new season to commence on August 26/27 tentatively as proposed by the Interim Management Committee, IMC.
