Enyimba International FC of Aba coach, Fatai Osho has expressed displeasure over the performance of his team despite the People’s Elephant 2-1 home victory against relegation strugglers, Adamawa United, Bestchoicesports.com.ng can report.

In one of the matchday 26 fixtures of the 2020/2021 Nigeria Professional Football League, NPFL played at the Enyimba Stadium, Aba, the 2020 CAF Confederation Cup quarter-finalist struggled to beat the Adamawa side.

Despite the 2-1 scorelines, Osho expressed displeasure over the performance of the players whom he blamed for being wasteful and unruthless.

Speaking at the post-match conference after the match, Osho said but for the wastefulness of the players in front of goal, the game could have recorded more goals than the slim victory.

“Three points is good for us but the performance isn’t what we expected. We started very well, in the first 20 to 30 minutes we should have been three to four goals up.

“It’s more like a reoccurring decimal now, we keep wasting these opportunities. I tried as much as possible to encourage these boys, to be ruthless in front of goal. The name of the game is scoring goals. If you are creating these chances, you have got to take it.

“Wasting these opportunities will always re-energize our opponents. It was a below par performance, everybody knows that. It’s just unacceptable,” he said.

On the inability of Enyimba to score up to three goals in a match which was one of the major reason they crashed out from the CAF Confederation Cup against Egyptian Pyramids FC, the coach explained “We have mentioned a lot about our techniques. From the video analysis we have had, I have made them understand that they have to be superb. Our judgement and decisions at the centre of the pitch should be perfect.”

Coach Osho also bemoaned accumulated injuries and national team callup which have seen 14 of his players sidelined or unavailable

“The injury in the team is alarming. As at now we have 12 players injured. It’s not really easy. 12 players and two (Anayo Iwuala and John Noble) in the national camp. That’s 14 players. This is Enyimba, we have to make do with what is on ground. The injury list is alarming.”

The victory lifted Enyimba to 5th place with 41 points with three outstanding games.
