The FCT Sports Writers Association, SWAN Electoral Committee Wednesday released guidelines and date for election as well as prices form forms for various positions.

In a statement issued by the Electoral Committee signed by its Chairman and the Secretary, Mr Ezeocha Nzeh and Mrs Dorcas Jonah respectively, noted that members wishing to vote and or be voted for must have, among other things, practised sports journalism, as well as being a member of FCT SWAN for at least a period of six (6) months.

The Electoral Committee also called SWANECO, scheduled the election date for June 4, 2021.

The Committee also put the costs of forms for confidantes wishing to contest for the position of Chairman at fifteen Thousand naira (N15, 000) only while those of Vice Chairman and Secretary will pay N10, 000 to obtain the forms.

Forms for other positions will cost N8, 000 each.

Dear Colleagues, in pursuant of the FCT SWAN Electoral Committee’s resolve to conduct a free, fair, hitch free and credible election into offices upon the expiration of the tenure of our Exco, SWANECO as constituted by the Congress, makes the following guidelines and schedule for the upcoming election

GUIDELINES

To be eligible to vote and/or be voted for in the election, members shall fulfill the following:

1: Have a job with a recognized media organization

2: Produce appointment letter with a valid company Identification Card

3: Must have practiced Sports journalism, as well as being a member of FCT SWAN for at least a period of six (6) months

4: Shall be a financially up to date member of FCT SWAN

5: Shall possess a valid SWAN membership Identification Card

Members who have validated their membership, but are yet to receive their cards would be eligible for the election, but shall provide evidence of payment

SCHEDULE of Elections

1: Registration Window …… 17—–20 May, 2021.

This is graciously agreed so as to enable colleagues who have not validated their membership to do so, to be eligible for the election

2: Sale and Return of Election Forms…… May 22……..29

Please note that any form returned after 6pm of May 29 would not be accepted

3: Commencement of Campaign: May 24……. June 3

4: Screening and display of list of Candidates: May 31

5:Manifesto day: June 3

6: Election and declaration of results: June 4

Note that all concerns and reactions on any of the above information should be expressed on this platform so that they will be addressed by the Committee.
