Super Falcons stand-in captain, Chiamaka Nnadozie won the Woman of the Match award after her heroic displays earned Super Falcons a goalless draw against Olympic champions, Canada in Group B of the ongoing FIFA Women’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand on Friday.

The Paris FC goalkeeper stopped highly experienced 40-year-old Canada captain, Christine Sinclair’s penalty in the second half of the game at the Rectangular Stadium in Melbourne, Australia.

22-year-old goalkeeper saved the spot kick after diving correctly to the left side of the goal post using her left hand to block the goal-bound kick.

Her save did not only secure a point for the Super Falcons but also guaranteed her a clean shee in the game

She also made another crucial save in the concluded part of the game and despite midfielder Deborah Abiodun being sent off after receiving a straight red card for a nasty challenge on a Canadian player, the Super Falcon’s held on to pick their first point in their first game at the tournament which started on Thursday.

Nigeria will face co-host nation Australia in their second Group B match on Thursday, July 27 by 11am Nigeria time.
