Former Flying Eagles, Israel Ayuma rescued his team from the jaws of defeat, as his goal secured a point for Maritimo in their clash with Gil Vincente in added time of the second.
In a Portuguese elite league game on Saturday evening, Gil Vicente were cruising to victory after Murilo de Souza’s seventh-minute goal, but Marítimo never gave up in their quest to restore parity, which looked like an almost impossible mission as the clock ticked towards the end.
Then came the moment that turned the tide in favour of the visitors. Ayuma, who came on in the 66th minute wearing jersey No. 66, was set up by Maurice Boakye, and the former Mavlon FC player sold the defender a dummy before roofing the ball into the back of the net.
It was a typical striker’s goal from a midfielder, and the point they secured was a huge reward for the hard work put in by Ayuma and his teammates at the Estadio Cidade de Barcelos.
