The hammer of the Rugby Africa, the rugby gorverning body in Africa has fallen heavily on Nigeria as the continental body has suspended Nigeria from participating in its activities, Bestchoicesports.com.ng can report

The suspension followed the dissolution of the board of Nigeria Rugby Football Federation, NRFF by the Minister of youth and sports development, Sunday Dare last week.

In a series of tweets by the NRFF Team Manager, Dele Coker on Monday, it noted that Rugby Africa suspended NRFF on the ground that the dissolution of the board does not follow the Constitution of the federation.

The tweets added that “NRFF has been suspended from all Africa Rugby tournaments and events with immediate effect”

“As you may be aware, the Honourable Minister of Youth and Sports Development has dissolved most national sports federations, including @NigeriaRugby1.

“As an immediate result, @RugbyAfrique has responded that this move did not follow the approved process as stipulated in the #NRFF ’s constitution.

“Consequently, #NRFF has been suspended from all #AfricaRugby tournaments and events with immediate effect, Mr Coker said.

He added that with the suspension, “I am sad to report Nigeria will, therefore, no longer be allowed to participate in the @RugbyWorldCup repêchage tournament in Burkina Faso next month.”

Nigeria’s sports minister, Sunday Dare in an unpopular action last week announced the dissolution of all the boards of 31 sports federations in the country with immediate effect.

The minister also constituted caretaker committees to oversea the affairs of the federations.

The committees will be inaugurated in Abuja on Tuesday, May 4.

As it stands, this will likely be my last Tweet as Teams Manager. Working with everybody in the rugby family in Nigeria and diaspora has been the greatest honour of my life. I thank the President of @nigeriarugby1 for giving me this opportunity. Dele Coker, signing off.
