Heartland FC of Owerri has named the experienced Nnaemeka Anyanwu as their new Captain.
Speaking with Heartland Media, head coach Christian Obi believes Nnaemeka Anyanwu has the qualities to lead the team.

General Manager, Promise Nwachukwu also shared the sentiment of the Coach , describing the new skipper as a worthy leader who understands the task ahead.
“Anyanwu is a role model to the younger players, he also understands the task ahead , which is to return Heartland to the top flight “
Reacting the new captain promised to work hard alongside his teammates, the technical crew and management to return the Club to the Premier League.
Meanwhile the Nigerian National League, NNL officials visited the Dan Anyiam Stadium to inspect facilities ahead of the commencement of the 2023 season
Heartland has prosecuted loads of preparatory games as they prepare for life in the second tier league which includes some grade A games against Abia Warriors, Akwa United, among others.
Heartland were relegated from the Nigeria Premier Football League, NPFL to the Nigeria National League, NNL last season after they ended the campaign 18 on the log.
They joined Katsina United, Kano Pillars and MFM FC to begin a new life in the lower league.
