Former Arsenal midfielder, Mesut Ozil has expressed delight after returning to the game of football after close to a year of absence.

Ozil in an emotion post said his year with Arsenal under former managers Arsene Wenger and Unai Emery were wonderful, however lamented that the ending of his career at Arsenal was not as planned.

“I am back doing what I love which is to play football. I think I will be honest, when I joined Arsenal under Arsene Wenger my career was great there at Arsenal and also under Emery. Unfortunately my career there didn’t end the way it started, because I always stand up for the truth,” he said after he joined Turkey giants, Fernebache earlier this week.

Ozil who still harbour resentment against Germany on how he was treated few years back that led to his being dropped from the national team said that in Turkey, he had fond a home and wished he won the FIFA World Cup for them.

“Now I am in Turkey which is my real home, how I wish I won the FIFA World cup for them they would definitely appreciate me instead of saying thanks by making me a scapegoat when things goes (go) bad.”

 The former Real Madrid playmaker added that he is not in Turkey on vacation but to offer a lot to the club in football. He thanked Arsenal fans for their support especially during the later part of his career in the club.

 “I am here at Fenerbahce to deliver not on vacation. I have a lot to offer in football world. Thank you for the support to all Arsenal fans and my fans across the world. I am happy again. And I also hope my fans are happy as well.”

Özil, a German national of Turkish descent, joined Arsenal in 2013 after three successful seasons at Spanish giants Real Madrid, where he helped the Los Blancos win a La Liga title, a Spanish Cup, and a Spanish Super Cup.

With 44 goals and 77 assists in 254 games in England, he played a critical role as the Gunners won four FA Cup trophies and reached the UEFA Europa League final in a span of six years.

However, amid a dip in form and fractious relations with current manager Mikel Arteta and his predecessor Unai Emery, Özil has gone from having limited playing time to being completely frozen out of the Arsenal first team.

Left out of this season’s Premier League and Europa League squads, Özil has not made an appearance for the London side since last March.
