Barr. Ekweremadu Jr. who is a son of the former Deputy Senate President, Senator Ike Ekweremadu, is among the 20 commissioners sworn-in on Friday by the Enugu State Governor, His Excellency, Barrister Peter Mbah.

Speaking during his reception by his people in his home town in Aninri Local Government, Ekweremadu Jr. expressed delight over the appointment and thanked Governor Mbah for the rare privilege to serve the people.

“You have seen what God has done for us. We are grateful to God for this opportunity to serve our people. I am very happy and elated.

“I don’t have much to say but to assure you that I will do my best. I will work hard to make sure I represent Aninri very well and creditably. We are very loving people, forward looking and progressive. That is what I will bring (to the ministry)

“I want to thank specially the Executive Governor of Enugu State,His Excellency, Barrister Peter Mbah for their opportunity.

“It is a rare one and I am honoured. He is not owing us anything but he did this out of his magnanimity,” he said

Barrister Ekweremadu Jr is a legal practitioner who worked as a senior partner in the Chambers of Adegboyega Awomolo in Abuja before he left them and returned to his Father’s Chambers.

He succeeds Honourable Manfred Nxekwe who was the immediate past Commissioner for Youth and Sports in the state
