Former Super Eagles Captain and She evil Adviser to IMO State Governor, Elena Ihedioha, Nwankwo Kanu Thursday paid an unplanned visit to the state NPFL campaigners, Heartland FC, Bestchoicesports.com.ng can report.
The players and coaching crew of Heartland FC had an August Visitor in December in the person of Kanu Papilo Nwankwo.
His unscheduled visit to the Naze Millionaires was to observe the physical, technical and psychological levels of the lads as premier league games come thick and fast.
He extolled the zest of the players, commitment of the coaches and indifatigability of the board and management team. Words of encouragement flowed endlessly from the former Iwuanyanwu Nationals starlet as he brought in words of support from His Excellency Governor Emeka Ihedioha.
The gangling striker further engaged in a telephone chat with Anthony Ogbekile during the Triple A sports program on Hot 99.5fm, Papilo touched on the preparedness of the Government to expedite actions on the ongoing stadium rehabilitation in order for the team to return to Owerri, he also relayed to the sports show’s teeming listeners his observations from the Heartland visit stating how impressed he was with the level of professionalism exuded by the players and called for calm, patience and support from the teeming fans stressing that results will begin to go Heartland’s way in no time due to their steadfastness to a more robust technical process being introduced by Coach Ilechukwu.
It was a lovely time for the players who were delighted to see their hero back to identify with them bringing good tidings from the Governor of Imo State.
Basking in the spirit of motivation and psychological boost ahead of this weekend’s encounter, former Super Eagles midfielder and Sporting Director of Heartland FC, Ifeanyi Ekwueme, redeemed his pledge of N100,000 to the players after their 1-0 victory over the
NPFL league leaders. The former Wisla Plock maestro asserted that his token was in recognition of the hardwork and determination of the lads in fighting for the Heartland badge and a little way of complementing the excellent works of Club Chairman Chief Charles Ezekwem towards achieving the lofty dreams of the Imo State Sports loving Governor, Emeka Ihedioha for Heartland FC.
Recall that immediately after last weekend’s game, Chief Ezekwem
surprised the players by handing them an away win match allowance for their home victory over Plateau United, to the ecstasy of the players.
With yet another cash reward, the Heartland warlocks are not short of
motivation as they prepare for a fiery encounter against Kwara United also known as the Afonja Warriors away at the Kwara
Township Stadium this weekend. The wider Heartland family is positive that the team would continually grind out results against all odds and
they can be rest assured that for Ifeanyi Ekwueme, this gesture would only be the beginning.
