Patrice Motsepe of South Africa Friday, March 12, became the 7th President of Africa’s football governing boday, the Confederation of African Football, CAF.

Motsepe became the first English speaking country to occupy the exalted seat.

North Africa countries have had dominance of the CAF Presidency with Egypt recording three presidencies between 1957 and 1972.

Ethiopia had their share of the position from 1972 to 1987 while Sudan had the shortest stewardship with one year from 1987 to 1988.

Cameroon, though had one President, but they produced the longest served president of CAF in the person of Isaa Hayatou who oversaw Africa football from 1988 to 2017, 29 years.

Ahmad Ahmad ensured that Madagascar had their share of the number on Africa footballer position for four years from 2017 to 2021. He was succeeded by a South African, Patrice Motsepe who began his stewardship on March 12, 2021
