Manchester City assistant manager Mikel Arteta has been tipped to replace under-fire Unai Emery at Arsenal.
According to the Mirror, Arteta has a higher chance of landing the job after being the right-hand man for Pep Guardiola who has won the English Premier League in the last two seasons.
Arteta had been considered when Arsene Wenger called it quits at the Emirates but Unai beat him to the job as the club’s management felt he still didn’t have the required experience to manage at the top level.
The fact that Arteta will be coming in a familiar environment after playing for the North London club before hanging his boots has risen his stock considering he is still a darling to the Arsenal fans.
More Time for EmeryThe Mirror, however, says that Arsenal is willing to give Emery more time to see if he can change the fortunes of the club after a tough start to the season.
Apart from Arteta, former Juventus coach Massimo Allegri is also in contention but he has since been linked with the vacant job at Bayern Munich who sacked manager Niko Kovac on Sunday evening.
Others who have been linked with the position are former Arsenal midfielder Patrick Viera whose record at Nice is said to be a worry for the club management and Jose Mourinho whose links have elicited a mixed reaction from the fans.
