The MKO Abiola Stadium, Abeokuta, Ogun State have been banned from hosting further Nigeria National League, NNL matches, bestchoicesports.com.ng understands.

The league organisers handed the ban following dilapidation of facilities in the stadium.

Prior to the ban, the stadium was the home ground of the state owned football club, Gateway United who are toping the table in the NNL Group B Southern Conference, as well as Stormers Sports Club.

The league managers bemoaned the dilapidated condition of the stadium which necessitated the ban adding that no further league matches would be played in the stadium until approval is granted.

It was gathered that the on e state pride is a shadow of itself following years if neglect and lack of prepare works

The pitch looks distasteful, untidy, and in a state of complete disarray, invariably, the grass needs a complete replacement into what is applicable in modern day football.

It will be recalled that the stadium played host to the country’s national teams in the past.

Gateway United have now adopted the Otunba Dipo Dina Stadium, Ijebu Ode as their new home ground, while Stormers Sports Club have moved to Remo Stars Stadium, Ikenne
