According to reports on Tuesday, Amaju who said previously that he was not going for 3rd term, has hit the overdrive in his reaction to the Presidential directive conveyed through the Minister of Sports, advising NFF to do the right thing by ensuring that on September 30, NFF election holds and that the status is domesticated in line with best practices.

“Pinnick is reported to on a spending spree to tarnish the image of the Minister and also undermine Mr President’s authority to speak about Nigerian football.

“Pinnick and entire NFF have crowded media platforms attacking the directives and sponsoring defamatory publications against the Minister, for daring to advise and direct NFF to do the right thing,” part of the report claims.

It further added that “Amaju Pinnick, the outgoing NFF President has embarked on a campaign of calumny against the Sports Minister to the extent of attacking President Buhari for approving directives to NFF to do the right thing.

“Pinnick is spending on media attacks against President Buhari and the Minister. Pinnick has gone further to attempt to blackmail the Minister and the Federal government at FIFA, using his friendship with Infantino, the FIFA President.

“Pinnick reportedly told Infantino to come hard on Mr. President and the Minister and accuse them of interference.”

Reacting to the story, the embattled NFF President, Mr Amaju Pinnick described the reports as “a hatchet Job” adding that the “campaigners have failed woefully”

“I could have kept quiet over this kind of silly campaign but it is important to put the record straight and also, I have the highest regards for the person of His Excellency, President Buhari, the Government and its institutions. This is a hatchet job, and such can always happen in political times. The campaigners have failed woefully.

““It is time to give it in full measure to those who hawk blatant falsehood and spend their days and nights planning evil. It will no longer be business as usual.

“President Buhari has remained an amazing father and lover of Nigeria Football and the National Teams. None of these dirty campaigns by disgruntled persons and haters can have any impact.”
