It is obvious that all is not well with the  current technical crew handling Nigeria’s Super Eagles B team and the National  U-23. 

Losing to Togo’s  Sparrow Hawks within the spate of seven days is not just worrisome but too glaring with one ending in an embarrassing fashion  and this calls for alarm.  

The current gaffer,  Imama Amapakabo has on two occasions came back from the dead, against Libya and Sudan to give the national U-23 team an Afcon U-23 ticket which is commendable but for how long can we  keep surviving such scenarios.

With due respect to Togo, they don’t belong to the class of power houses in West African football not to talk of Africa, however, they can  now boldly beat their chest of beating Nigeria comprehensively.

Losing to Togo is possible, but the scandalous outcome *4-1* against such minnows is a hard pill to swallow. 

And to rub salt to the injury, we lost to the same team yet again in the sub regional tournament, WAFU in Senegal. 

There was much ado when the Nigeria Football Federation announced the return of Coach Salisu Yusuf after serving his one year ban  in which some disgruntled stakeholders made it obvious they were against such a decision.  

The out cry made the NFF partially reserved its stand but for how long can we holding on sway. 

The time has come for the NFF especially the Technical and Development Committee to put on their thinking cap and take a bold decision in the best interest of the nation’s football.

If the return of Salisu Yusuf will have a positive effect on the aforementioned national teams so be it. 

Bottom line is Imama and his crew need a helping hand because CHAN ticket is hanging on a thread. Even a final place in the ongoing WAFU is out of sight  
same Salisu that is being vilified took Nigeria to the final of WAFU and CHAN and we should forget he’s a human capable of making mistakes. Such people redeem themselves when given a second chance. 

It will be unacceptable for Nigeria U-23 not to qualify at least for next years Olympics because football has always given much joy and excitement right from 1996 in the global sporting spectacle. 

After a disastrous campaign last year at the world cup in Russia , Nigeria need to rise again on global  stage in which the Olympics is a perfect tournament make amends and put smile on the faces of millions of Nigerians.
