Determined to help fight climate change and create a healthy environment for all, the Nigeria Teqball Federation NIGTEQ Tuesday embarked on tree planting

The exercise which took place at the River Park, Business District, Abuja was coordinated by the President of NIGTEQ, Egnr Habu Gumel.

Engr. Gumel who personally planed one if the step tress during the exercise said that the move was part of NIGTEQ’s in her four-day training programme and initiatives to help in securing the environment and beautifying it.

He called on the general public particularly Nigerians to see the need to plant a tree as a national and personal assignment.

“We all know the importance of trees around us. They provide fresh air, add beauty to our surrounding and most importantly, help protect us from climatic change.

“We will continue to do this annually because as a federation, we believe that for us to do well in sports, our environment must be healthy and protected.”

On his part, the General Secretary of NIGTEQ, Mr Ndudi Edede noted that tree planting as well as general sanitation were part of the federation’s Corporate. Social Responsibility, CRS.

He noted that the federation would continue to do her best in preserving the environment and ensuing that Nigerians and indeed the global community imbibes the general message as importance of tree planting.

Chairman of Federal Capital Territory Teqball Association, Mr Ibrahim Galadima also participated in the tree planting.

The tree planting was part of the 4-day capacity programme organised by the NIGTEQ in collaboration with International Federation of Teqball FITEQ.

Similarly, the President, Nigeria Teqball Federation, NIGTEQ, Engr Habu Gumel has charged the coaches and Referees of the beautiful game on professionalism.

Engr. Gumel who gave the charge in Abuja while addressing the coaches and referees who underwent a four-day capacity training workshop commended the Coaches and Referees for turning up for the programme.

Describing them as the pioneers of teqball in Nigeria, the President encouraged them to put in their best and be good ambassadors of the curved game.

“We all know that our own Olympic, the sports festival is going on in in Edo state but I decided to cut short my programme there to be here with you.

“This obviously is because if the importance we all attached to this great training programme. I therefore encourage you that as you finish this training to be professional in your duties. Whether as a coach or referee, you should be able to understand your professional duties and be able to uphold them always.

“You are the pioneers of the teqball in Nigeria and much is expected of you. You should be good ambassadors of the game.

The training which commenced on Saturday, April 10 was rounded up on Tuesday, April 13, 2021.
