The Nigeria National League, NNL seems to have bowed to pressure mounted by the withdrawal of Vandrrezzer FC from the 2020/2021 season over broadcast related issues, Bestchoicesports.com.ng can report

The pulling out of the most followed football club on social media in Nigeria last week shook the football airwave and the management of the league has come out with rules regulating broadcast of home and away matches.

One of the rules is the use of unrestricted number of cameras to cover any match either via streaming or television coverage.

Vandrrezzer FC pulled out of the league after it was disallowed from using give cameras to cover their away match against Go Round FC in Rivers State as well as a charge of one million naira by the home team before they could cover the match

In announcing the cessation of their participation in the league, the club said inter alia “Recall that in our bid to reposition the league and open it up to become visible enough to be able to generate revenue in accordance with global best practices; we requested and received a written approval from the hierarchy of the Nigeria National League an approval to stream live, all our games home and away. Our intentions were to expose the league to the world, at enormous expense to us and our sponsors, in order for easy marketability and standardization.”

In a release Thursday, The Nigeria National League (NNL) affirmed its resolve to continue to promote and create needed standard for the good of the League.

Rising from a crucial meeting at its Secretariat in Wuse Zone 7, Abuja Thursday the NNL took steps to further encourage all clubs to take advantage of the media broadcast clause enshrined in its rule books.

In a six (6) point item, the NNL reminded its 46 clubs in the North and South Conferences to note that subject to Rights and approval by NNL and that of the League broadcast Owner (s), clubs are entitled to negotiate local radio broadcast rights for additional revenue generation as well as create awareness for their activities.

Clubs have the right to broadcast (Cover) their matches home and away and this must not stop the prosecution of any NNL match.

That Clubs are permitted to beam their games home and away with any amount of equipment (Cameras) that they can afford unrestricted and unhindered.

The penalty for any club refusing or stopping the process of broadcasting (Live streaming) of matches either home or away is N500,000.00 (Five hundred Thousand Naira Only).

For the League the NNL has the exclusive right to negotiate and or enter into commercial deals, Broadcasting contracts,Tv/Radio Contracts, Title Sponsorships etc.

The League‘s broadcast Right owners have exclusive and unencumbered access to all the League venues.
