Two players of Nasarawa United were injured on Sunday after they were allegedly attacked by Plateau United fans in Jos after their Week 15 Nigeria Premier Football League, NPFL match in Jos.

Plateau United won the match by alone goal to compound Nassarawa United’s relegation woes.

A competent source who spoke authoritatively to Best Choice Sports said the Lafia based Solid Miners were attacked first on the field of play shortly after the referee blew the final whistle and two players injured, www.bestchoicesports.com.ng can report.

The source noted that the attack which was a huge shock to them, continued even outside the stadium as the irate fans blocked their bus from exiting the match venue.

Nassarawa United’s team bus window screens were shattered by stones from the fans which injured two of their players.

One of the injured players is a defender, Victor Collins.

It was not known at press time what caused the attack but there is no official statements from both teams.

I Am Not Aware Of Any Attack – Plateau United Media Officer

However, Media Officer of Plateau United, Albert Dakup has denied any knowledge of the attack claiming that the team left the Stadium in his presence in peace

“I am not aware of any attack. They left the stadium in my presence.

“If it happened outside the stadium, definitely it is not going to be our fans.

“The stadium houses the Special Task Force in Jos, so nobody will attack them,” he told our correspondent

Efforts to speak with an official of Nassarawa United proved abortive as the phone numbers of the club’s Media Officer, Eche Amos were not reachable at the time of this report.

It could be recalled that as part of punitive measures to checkmate hooliganism in the Nigeria Premier Football League, NPFL, the league organisers, Interim Management Committee, IMC have in the past weeks deducted 3 points and 3 goals including severe fines to clubs who failed to control their fans or did not comply with the rules if the game.
