Former Chairman, Gombe State Football Association, Alhaji Gara Gombe has accused the management of Nigeria Women Football League, NWFL of being economical with the truth concerning the one month postponement of the 2020/2021 league season

The Chairperson of the NWFL announced Sunday that the league will be suspended for a month to enable the organisers sort out irregularities noticed in the Covid-19 test results presented by clubs.

Two weeks ago, the league was suspended for one week to give time for 14 out of 16 clubs in the campaign to submit their new Covid-19 tests certificates but that was not the case as the league will not resume again until February

But Alhaji Gombe has carpeted the NWFL handlers for not telling Nigerians what is holding down the league.

Mr Gombe alleged that the league is being suspended because the organisers do not have money to carry on the league as well as pay match officials.

“The women football league are not telling Nigerians the truth.
The last time they said the League was postponed due to non compliance by clubs to Covid-19 protocols.

“I asked then that where were they and the protocol when they started the League with so much funfare praising Aisha Falode in the media reporting from every angle and space on social media saturated by halluyah and amen associates,” the former Special Adviser to Kano State Government stated on Whatsapp Platform, Best Choice Sports

Mr Gombe expressed worry that the league could be suspended indefinitely due to lack of funds to prosecute the league since the league started without a sponsor.

“Now after suspending the League for one week, they are now saying they are postponing it for one month.

“I am sure it will soon be indefinite suspension. Lies and cooked fallacies dont last but truth does not need a social media gang or supporters club.
It rises perpendicularly to the occasion at the right time.

“The Truth is that they have no sponsor. No money to prosecute the league. Instead of them and their Godfathers in NFA to Humble themselves and own up to the realities they kept on deceiving us lie after another lie.

“The other time the referees appointment committee and NRA said they will not appoint or post match officials for the Women League because the League is not paying them. The story was turned upside down that the Referees Appointment Committee was asking for sitting allowance.

“Later after some of us made that situation public, in a swift reaction, they said the matter was settled. HOW? We asked but no answer. Someone said it was a family affair. Indeed, family affair. When a leader of the League accupies that office illegally by impersonating as chairperson of the League that is what you get,” he concluded.
