“PUMA donated these $2.7 million kits freely to Nigeria and offered to financially reward our medal wining athletes,” Senator Sani said on his Facebook page.

“Our officials rejected them and preferred to use public funds to purchase from other sources.

“Now our Athletes are embarrassed in Tokyo.”

PUMA on Wednesday announced the cancellation of a four-year sponsorship deal it signed with the Athletics Federation of Nigeria, AFN.

In a letter released on Wednesday, the German based sports wear manufacturer said the termination was sequel to Team Nigeria’s inability to use the kits at the ongoing 2020 Olympics in Tokyo, Japan.

It could be recalled that Nigeria Shot Putter, Chukwuebuka Enekwachi on Tuesday released a video of how he washes and wears a single jersey given to him by the officials at the Olympics.
