Scottish League giants, Rangers’ bid to sign out of favour Super Eagles striker, Cyril Dessers is imminent as the former league champions intensify their pursuit of the Nigerian.

Already, Rangers have agreed deal in principle for Dessers and there are indications that the deal “is a matter of days” for it’s completion

The striker who scored 10 goals last season at the Serie A side, Cremonese has been a key target for manager Michael Beale, as he closes in on a sixth summer signing.

Sky Sports reports that although the deal has not been signed yet, the Nigerian international should complete his move to Ibrox following an unsuccessful first bid earlier this month.

Michael Beale has been in the market for a new striker having already made five signings this summer. Brighton winger Abdallah Sima became the latest while Atalanta’s Sam Lammers also arrives in a new-look Ibrox attack. Dessers appeared to be the next target and reports this week suggested talks were “well advanced” between Rangers and Cremonese.

It’s claimed the clubs have agreed on a fee, suggesting it will either be a permanent move or a loan with an option to make it permanent, with an announcement expected in the days ahead.

Dessers scored ten goals in 32 appearances despite Cremonese’s relegation from Serie A last season and it’s hoped the 28-year-old will be able to bring that goalscoring form with him to Glasgow.

Beale has already added Abdallah Sima, Sam Lammers, Jack Butland, Dujon Sterling and Kieran Dowell to his squad and is understood to be pleased with the business done by the club so far.

Rangers remain interested in Feyenoord striker Danilo – despite having a bid rejected – and Los Angeles FC midfielder Jose Cifuentes.
