Former Super Eagles player, Kennedy Boboye has said that Nigeria football legend, late Rashidi Yekini inspired him during his time as a player, Bestchoicesports.com.ng can report.

The former Plateau United coach who guided the Jos-based team to Nigeria Professional Football League glory stated this Monday, May 4 as Nigerians remembered the 8th anniversary of the late Rashidi Yekini

Yekini died on May 4 in 2012.

“Yekini was one of the few African strikers who inspired me during my playing career. Rest on legend,” Boboye said said on his Twitter handle.

Rashidi scored Nigeria’s first ever World Cup goal in 1994 when he slotted in Super Eagles first goal against Bulgaria in a 3-0 in their debut.

He went on to score 37 goals (the highest by any Eagles striker till date) in 58 appearance for Nigeria
