Nigeria’s representative at the maiden edition of the CAF Women’s Champions League, Rivers Angels FC on Tuesday crashed out of the competition after they lost their second Group B match in Cairo, Egypt against South Africa’s Mamelodi Sundowns, www bestchoicesports.com.ng can report.

The Edwin Okon-ped ladies went into the penultimate Group B match needing nothing but a win to retain hope of progressing into the semi-finals of the continental women league after suffering heavy opening group match defeat to ASFAR FC of Morocco on Saturday

Nhlapho’s first half goal snatched the full points for the South African giants leaving the Nigerian Angels desolate, heartbroken.

The Rivers State owned club’s day was made worst after Vihiga Queens defeated ASFAR FC 2-0 in the other group B match played earlier at the same Stadium.

Prolific Jentrix Shikangwa scored and was involved in the opener to inspire Vihiga Queens of Kenya to a 2-0 win over ASFAR of Morocco.

The victory has thrown Group B wide open as both ASFAR and Vihiga have three points each and they both must win their last group matches to sail through.

The Kenyan giants face River Angels on Friday as ASFAR battle with Mamelodi Sundowns who beat Vihiga 1-0 in the opening match.

Rivers Angels would need to do the unthinkable by beating Vihiga Queens by at least 6 goals without conceding hoping that Sundowns would do them a favour by beating Vihiga Queens to nurse any hope of remaining in the competition.

As it stands, Mamelodi Sundowns have qualified for the semi-finals with six point from two matches. They need only a draw to confirm their top position on the log.

On the other hand, ASFAR FC and Vihiga Queens have three points apiece while Rivers Angels brings the rear with zero points.
