Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr has frowned at English Premier League club Chelsea for not letting defender Kenneth Omeruo leave with ease.

Rohr said Chelsea is demanding €8m for Omeruo, which he believes it’s too much.

Omeruo joined Chelsea in 2012 but has not played a competitive match for the Blues, and has spent six years on loan playing for five different clubs.

Omeruo joined Leganes after featuring for Nigeria at the 2018 FIFA World Cup and put up an impressive performance for the La Liga side during his loan, making 28 appearances.

Rohr said they had a discussion at the AFCON 2019 and agreed the player should not return to Chelsea.

“Kenneth and me agreed that he does not have to go back to Chelsea, he still belongs to Chelsea and they should not ask too much money for him which is the case where they are asking for €8m, that’s too much,” Rohr told Sports Extra exclusively.

“He did well in Spain, let him play, they must not ask for so much money, it’s not fair, so, he should continue in Spain, where he had a very good season.”

The 25-year-old has had loan spells with ADO Den Haag (2012–2013), Middlesbrough (2014–2015), Kasımpasa (2015–2016, 2017–2018), Alanyaspor (2016–2017) and Leganes (2018–2019).
