National teams across the world face challenges in their choice of goalkeepers. Nigeria’s various national teams, particularly the Super Eagles, have been in dire need of an astute goalkeeper to man the sticks in recent years.

Bearing in mind the importance of goalkeeping in football and the need to capture and train goalkeepers from the amateur level, a foremost Nigeria football goalkeeping academy, Seaman Goalkeeping Academy is organising a five-day goalkeeping clinic in port Harcourt, Rivers State Nigeria.

The training will hold from 14th through 18th November, 2023.

Chairman of the academy and retired goalkeeper, Innocent Uzodinma who disclosed this to Best Choice Sports, said the training is his own way of giving back to the society from the beautiful game which made him the person heist today.

Mr Uzodinma who kept for then Gabros Football Club of Nnewi and Olympic Football Club of Niamey shot stopper added that the clinic is aimed at catching young goalkeepers at the grassroots, nurturing and grooming them to professionals that can stand the test of time anywhere in the world.

The ex goaltender revealed that Seaman Goalkeeping Academy is born out of passion to make a difference in the area of goalkeeping which according to him is not given the desired attention.

He noted that unlike Germany who have a goalkeeping academy which has translated to why they have produced the likes of Immanuel Nuer, Mark Standtegen, Suma etc, Nigeria and many other countries keep suffering from this challenge

The Seaman goalkeeping clinic is expected to hold from November 14th to 18th, 2023 at the Akpajo Primary School, Port Harcourt.

Former Nigerian international and Super Eagles goalkeeper, Bishop Idah Peterside and David Ngodigha will grace the event.
