Olympic Eagles captain, Success Makanjuola has expressed his desire to play for the Super Eagles but stated that he is not in a hurry to feature for the former African champions

The former Water FC of Abuja player stated this on Saturday after his sterlar performance helped the national U-23 team beat Tanzania 2-0 in Ibadan in the second leg second round of the 2023 U-23 Nations Cup

As was the case in the first leg last week, Makanjuola played Nigeria’s second half penalty which hit the bar but was deflected into the net by Tanzania goalkeeper, Aboutwaleeb Mshery.

Speaking in post match media briefing, the diminutive left shooter said the coaching crew gave them confidence to play and win the match.

“It’s all about unity and continuity. The coach made us realize the importance of winning.

“I am enjoying my journey. When the time comes, I will play for the Super Eagles.

“Our coach had to make us understand the need to be decisive and calm down. We followed his instructions and played without nativity.

“This night is just all food. We need to enjoy ourselves. The captain arm band is a Burden of the nation. I have people who have supported me since the journey started. The coaches have encouraged me. I am not under pressure because the right people are around me,’ he said.

Second half goal from Abiodun Oguniyi in the 62nd minute and Aboutwaleeb Mshery”s own goal in the 70th minute handed the Olympic Eagles a 3-1 aggregate win.

The Olympic Eagles will now meet winner of the match between Uganda and Guinea in the final Playoff

The 2023 U-23 Nations Cup will hold in Morocco with 8 teams participating. The top three teams from the tournament will qualify to represent Africa at the 2024 Olympics in Paris, France
