Super Eagles goalkeeper Maduka Okoye arrived at Watford training centre Monday morning ahead of the new 2022/2023 Championship season.

Okoye who made his debut for the Super Eagles of Nigeria in a 1-1 draw against Brazil in 2019 became the most expensive Nigerian goalkeeper ever when he signed for Watford in November 2021 on a five-and-a-half year deal for 5 million Euros from Sparta Rotterdam.

The 22-year-old German born player becomes the 12th Nigerian signed for Watford first team and the fifth Nigerian in the team currently after Emmanuel Dennis, Oghenekaro Etebo, Samuel Kalu, Dipo Medube.

After the announcement of his singing, Maduka Okoye took to his Instagram handle in delight to express his joy after the move was completed;

“I’m overwhelmed to sign for Watford, to play in the Premier League is something I’ve been dreaming about since I was a little boy,” Okoye wrote on Instagram.

“I can’t wait to get started with the team for the upcoming season 2022/2023. I wish the club all the best for the rest of the season. See you soon, “he wrote.

The player started his career in the youth ranks at Borussia Monchengladbach, Bayer Leverkusen and Fortuna Dusseldorf before moving to Sparta Rotterdam in the summer of 2020.

2020/2021 Sparta Rotterdam player of the season, who has 13 caps to his name for the Super Eagles, will begin his new start to life in England with Watford in the Championship next season after they were relegated from the premier League last season.
