The former Liverpool player Wednesday waved goodbye to his Union Berlin teammates ahead of his expected move to Premier League

Since gaining promotion back to the English Premier League after two decades, the 1979 and 1980 UEFA Champions League Winners swiftly identified Awoniyi as their target to lead their goal hunting next season.

The Nigerian striker is said to be poised for a club-record move to the Premier League new boys, who were promoted from the Championship via the play-offs.

Steve Cooper’s Forest have been linked with a big move for Bundesliga star Awoniyi, 24, with reports stating he will shortly undergo his medical with the East Midlands side.

Awoniyi is expected to complete his transfer to the Premier League new boys this week with Forest understood to pay £17.5 to sign the striker from the capital club.

Awoniyi who scored one goal for Nigeria in their 2021 Africa Cup of Nations AFCON in Cameroon, left Alte Försterei at 09:05 am (Nigerian time) with a trolley case to his car, he got in and left the Union compound as his teammates were in the dressing room preparing for their first training since the end if the season

Awoniyi is expected to complete his move to Nottingham Forest this week, provided his release clause of 20 million euros is triggered and subject to a routine medical and agreeing personal terms.
