Tottenham Hotspur have opened official talks to sign Victor Osimhen, launching an initial package worth up to £55 million for the Galatasaray striker.

The 27-year-old Nigerian international has emerged as a primary target for the North London club as they look to secure an elite, world-class focal point for their attack.

However, Tottenham’s opening gambit falls short of Galatasaray’s valuation. The Turkish champions have swiftly knocked back the initial approach, holding out for a figure closer to £65 million before sanctioning a sale for their star talisman.

Negotiations are expected to continue, with Tottenham deciding whether to restructure their performance-related add-ons or increase the guaranteed base fee to match the Turkish giants’ demands.

Since the sale of Harry Kane, the London club has struggled to fill the gap left in their attack, resulting in a lack of goals and underwhelming performances last season.

Tottenham, under the leadership of Roberto De Zerbi, have been active in the transfer market this summer, and now appear to be focusing on Osimhen, who has impressed with his performances at Galatasaray. Tottenham made an initial offer between £50 million and £55 million, but the Turkish champions expect a sale closer to £65 million. This difference in value is common in current negotiations and could be decisive in the completion of the deal.

Osimhen, who had an impressive season scoring 22 goals and providing 8 assists in the 2025/26 season, perfectly fits the profile of player De Zerbi is looking for in the number 9 position. His ability to consistently score goals makes him an attractive target, not only for Spurs, but also for other renowned clubs such as Manchester United, Chelsea and Atlético de Madrid, who are also keeping an eye on his situation.
