According to Olumide Aturu, the Chief Executive Officer of 5stars Football and Consultancy Limited, as part of the the partnership, UNESCO will support the company in organising the special cup competition which is for people living with disabilities.

He said the two-day event would see over 100 participants competing in football, basketball, track and field events and baram traditional sports.

“This is coming at the right time, especially for people living with disabilities because it will go along way in our bid to continue to develop the game and seek collaboration with major stakeholders who are interested in uplifting the standard of masses and encouraging inclusiveness in society and using sports as a tool in achieving it.

“And [this is] in pursuance of her intervention with the youths around the world to exclusively reach out to Internally Displaced Persons & people living with disabilities in Nigeria, as they often encounter discrimination and exclusion on a daily basis.

“We intend to achieve this in line with the standards set by the United Nations, with UNESCO as the driving force,” Aturu added.

The 2-day tournament which will hold on the 9th to 10th of July 2021 at the Old parade ground, Abuja will be funded by UNESCO
