Nigerians have raised a save-our-soul plea to the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, to as a matter of urgency, save the live of the only son of ex Nigeria International, Uzama Douglas, Bestchoicesports.com.ng can report.

The photo of Douglas’ only son lying on the hospital bed was circulated in the social media with concerned Nigerians calling on the NFF board led by Amaju Pinnick to do all within his power financially to save the little boy from dying.

Leading the call is a veteran journalist in the sports beat, Adewale Ajayi who vowed that he would not let Pinnick and his board members rest until they do the needful.

In a piece titled “NIGERIANS PLEASE HELP, UZAMA DOUGLAS ( Nigerian international)
HIS SON MUST NOT DIE.”

Ajayi wrote “The child lying on the bed in this picture is the first and only son of the late Uzama Douglas. Uzama Douglas played for the Nigerian under 20 team of 2016 before joining Gombe united.

Before the Flying Eagles lost to Sudan in that under 20 Afcon qualifier played in Lagos, Uzama and his mates protested over their unpaid match bonuses totalling close to 2m naira per player.

That protest and a combination of other factors resulted in Nigeria losing to a Sudanese team they had beaten on home soil. That defeat means the Flying Eagles failed to qualify for the Under 20 Nations cup.

It’s exactly three years after and those players have not been paid their match bonuses.

In that group you have Samuel Chukwueze, Victor Osimhen, Kinglsey Micheal and Orji Okonkwo who have now graduated to play for the Under 23 National team and the Super Eagles even when they are still being owed monies from three years ago.

Now Uzama Douglas a member of that team, was playing for Gombe united when he met his untimely death on December 26th, 2016 during a visit to Edo state to celebrate Christmas with his family.

He left behind a young wife and a three month old child.

After his death, the young wife abandoned the child with his grand mum and went in search of greener pastures. That child is today very sick in hospital with no one to cater for his hospital bills.

The National Association Nigeria Professional Footballers paid the child a visit in the hospital on Friday and reported that if something urgent is not done, we may be hearing a different story (God forbid)

I am pained and in tears because I have made frantic efforts to make sure the NFF pays Uzama’s family the backlog of his allowances so that the little boy can be well taken care of. I have written to them privately and publicly but nothing happened and now I want Nigerians young and old to save this child from dying.

Help spread this story and let’s rally around the family to keep this child alive.

This is my passionate plea,” he wrote

Consequently, an account was immediately made available for concerned Nigerians to donate their contributions no matter how little to save Douglas Jr.

In making the account details available, Ajayi said “NSM ARISE Let’s drop our widows might and prove to these men that we care. Let’s teach them how to spread love, let’s give and be blessed. Drop your little I will gather the rest from outside. Uzama’s son must live. I am determined to see this through. God bless your hearts.

Let’s drop our donations here pls

Sulola B. Remi. First Bank: 3065400608,” he said in NSM Rebranded Whatsapp Group.
