On Saturday a former Super Eagles star, Femi Ajilore was elected into the board of the FCT Football Association.

The former FC Midtjylland of Denmark midfielder got a total of 7 votes out of 12 delegates to be elected into the board in the election held in Bwari Area Council, Abuja on Saturday

Ajilore who has six caps for the Super Eagles and was part of the silver-winning Dream Team in 2008 Olympics in China, told our correspondent what motivated him to vie for the position.

“A lot motivated me to participate in this election and most important is to add value and help in grassroots football development in the FCT. To also encourage people to key into what I have been doing in my own little way for the development of football and sports in the FCT. So I have been given this privilege to serve and by the grace of God, I will not let my people down.

“This is my first time and my people trusted me. It is my opportunity to serve even though I served at the national level, but I see it as an opportunity to bring my experience to the development of football in Abuja,” he said.
He commended the electoral body for doing a great job in ensuring that the election was rancour-free and fair.

“The electoral body did a commendable job. They have been on it for some weeks and the outcome of the process today justified the magnitude of work they put in. It was a peaceful, credible election and I am so impressed with the character exhibited. We must give kudos to the electoral committee for putting up this programme.”
