NPFL MD18: Rangers Thrash Gombe United In Enugu, Abia Warriors Humble Doma United

Rangers International FC on Saturday made it two wins out of two matches at their home ground , Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium as they thrashed visiting Gombe United 4-1 in their matchday 18 encounter.

Playing their second game at the Cathedral after beating Shooting Stars 2-0 in the renovated pitch previously, the Flying Antelopes swept aside their guests in style to consolidate their push for continental ticket.

Two goals from Godwin Obaje in 20th and 38th minutes – with the latter coming via spot kick, handed the home side 2-1 lead after Gombe United had canceled the first strike through Wasiu Alalde.

Sixty-three minute strike by Nwaodu Chukwudi and Augustine Kelechukwu’s effort in the 87th minute ensured that Rangers have won their first two matches in front of their voiceferous supporters at the Cathedral.

Despite the victory, the seven-time Nigeria Premier Football League champions remained unmoved on the log as they retained their 9th position with 25 points from 18 matches.

In other results, Abia Warriors defeated Doma United 3-0, Plateau United pipped champions Enyimba FC 1-0 in Jos while Sunshine and Niger Tornadoes encounter ended in a barren draw.

Heartland FC of Owerri vs Kwara United match was postponed.
