The Reform Committee set up by the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF to find ways to revamp and reposition Nigeria football will meet today in Abuja for the first time in 10 months after its inaugural meeting in December 2018, Bestchoicesports.com.ng can report.

According to Osasu Obayiuwana, who is also a member of the Committee, he said that the first official meeting of the committee will hold at Bolto White Hotel, Abuja

“THREAD: In a few hours, the Reforms Committee of @thenff will meet at @BoltonWhitesHtl in Abuja, for the first time in ten months. The last time the committee physically met was in December 2018, when it was inaugurated at @EkoHotels, Lagos. This 👇🏾 is the appointment letter.

“This committee, despite the advice of many of us, that we needed at least one year to carry out a thorough process of reforms, was given a February/March 2019 deadline. This, in my view, was inadequate.

“Well, March 2019 came and passed, and, not surprisingly, the assignment was not completed. After a while, @thenff now sent us this 👇🏾 letter… This extended our mandate till May 10th, 2019.” Obayiuwana said in a tweet on Monday morning.

The committee held its inaugural meeting on December 6, 2018.

The NFF on October 30^th, 2018 released names of its Reform Committee, which constitution was endorsed by the NFF Congress at the 74th Annual General Assembly of Nigerian Football in Asaba, Delta State last week.

The chairman of the committee is NFF 1st Vice President, Barrister Seyi Akinwunmi, with 2nd Vice President/LMC Chairman Shehu Dikko serving as Vice Chairman, with other Board members Ibrahim Musa Gusau and Chidi Ofo Okenwa also in, as well as NFF General Secretary, Dr. Mohammed Sanusi.

There are also Late Chief Taiwo Ogunjobi (former Chairman, Osun State FA), Rt. Hon. Margaret Icheen (Chairman, Benue State FA), Porbeni Ogun (Chairman, Bayelsa State FA), Nasiru Saidu (Chairman, Sokoto State FA), Alh. Garba Mohammed (Chairman, Yobe State FA), Dr. Kweku Tandoh (Executive Chairman, Lagos State Sports Commission), Barrister Godwin Dudu Orumen (Executive Chairman, Edo State Sports Commission), Alh. Farouk Yarma Adamu (Commissioner for Youth Empowerment, Gombe State), Chief (Mrs) Dilichukwu Onyedinma (Director of Sports, FCT), Alh. Abba Yola (Chairman, NFF Technical Study Group) and Barrister Isaac Danladi, Chairman of NPFL Club Owners).

Others are Alh. Shuaib Gara-Gombe, business mogul Yemi Idowu, Barrister Sampson Ebomhe and foremost journalists Tony Ubani, Felix Awogu, Osasu Obayiuwana, Godwin Enakhena and Chisom Ezeoke, as well as one representative each of the Nigeria Football Coaches Association, Nigeria

However, the integrity of the committee has been questioned with Alh. Shuaib Gara-Gombe, former Gombe State FA Chairman withdrawing from the committee citing cases of biased agenda and lack of transparency in the panel.

Also, the credibility of the committee has been severely damaged by in view of the members being in the watch-list of anti-corruption agencies such as EFCC, ICPC, and SPIP who slammed various corruption charges against Barrister Seyi Akinwunmi, Shehu Dikko and others.

The committee was initially given three months deadline to conclude its assignment.

But Mr Obayiuwana have questioned the legality of such committee having elapsed its time schedule “As everyone here is aware, we are in mid-October and there has been no subsequent letter sent to me – or any member of the RC, extending its mandate. So, how can this body function legally?

“Well, March 2019 came and passed, and, not surprisingly, the assignment was not completed. After a while, @thenff now sent us this 👇🏾 letter… This extended our mandate till May 10th, 2019.
