Speeking with our correspondent after the finals played at Etche Road Mini Stadium, Aba in Aba-South LGA of Abia State, the Public Relations Officer of AGFC, Mr Uduma Godwill praised the performance of the schools and thanked their managements and games masters for their efforts in putting the players togther.

He called for greater commitment assuring that the organisers will go back to review the performance in the 2nd edition with a view to getting the tournament better next year.

“It has been a week of exciting football and we commend the schools’ management for their efforts. We also appreciate the games masters for putting the players together especially that of the girls because it is obvious that more efforts are needed in the female category in order to encourage girl children to take to football.

“Generally the organisers did their best but we will not ascribe perfection to ourselves because there are always rooms for improvements going forward.

“Football and generally sports in secondary schools are dying and needs to be revived. The high level of poor performances by the kids is as a result of lack of opportunities but with the academies around equiped with the needed facitilies, and with competition like this better days is ahead,” Mr Uduma said.
