The head of Technical Committee, FCT Football Association, Samuel Abimbola has expressed optimism that the FCT football team will pick the ticket to represent the North Central zone at the playoff in Kwara, Bestchoicesports.com.ng can report
The former national U-20 coach who spoke in an interview said that with the calibre of players the team have in camp, he remained confident that they will do well in Kwara. The former Gateway United coach who spoke after the team played a friendly with Road Safety FC in Abuja over the weekend said that although the playoff will not be an easy task but maintained that the FCT team will be ready for their opponents when hostilities start in Kwara on January 20th.
“The boys just resumed camp on Tuesday and this (The match against Road safety on Saturday) is their third match so far. They played 3 matches, won 2 and lost one. And with what we saw, football is not mathematics and I believe that by the time the coaches begin to work on them, they are going to represent FCT very well in the zonal playoff.
“The matches they played are not yardsticks but they are good indicators that a lot of promising players are there and we are optimistic of picking the ticking in Kwara. The attack is sharp. The midfield needs a little fluidity so that when the game gets tough, they should be compact and allow the defenders have a little bit of respite.
“I know coach Bala very well and by the time he starts teaching them properly, there will be more improvements. So far, so good. “We started camping very late but that notwithstanding, we are making good use of the opportunities we have now. We have playoff on 20 and what the team have to do now is that between now and 16th of January, they will get better. It is a late preparation compared to what other states have done, but I believe that sometimes it is not how far but how well.
