Nigeria’s Africa Football League, AFL campaigners and league champions, Enyimba FC failed to make their early morning Tuesday trip to Morocco after the Moroccan authorities refused to issue the contingent landing permit for their chattered aircraft.

The Peoples Elephant are scheduled to travel to Casablanca for their AFL return leg match against Whydad Casablanca of Morocco, tomorrow

Enyimba FC were to depart via a chattered flight this morning at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport, Ikeja Lagos but the team were not issued landing permit as they retired to their hotel.

“The Enyimba FC Contingent didn’t make the trip to Casablanca as earlier scheduled after the Moroccan Authorities failed to issue a landed permit for a chattered aircraft from the Murtala Mohammed International airport.

“As at 00.30AM, the team has returned back to a hotel having spent 6 hours and 30 mins in the Chattered aircraft awaiting landing permit from the Moroccan Authorities for it to take off,” Enyimba said in a statement

The Nigeria Premier Football League NPFL champions are scheduled to face Whydad in their AFL return leg on Wednesday.

Enyimba lost their first-leg match to Wydad Casablanca on Sunday in Aba, Nigeria and will have to win in Morocco tomorrow to get through to the semi-final of the maiden Africa Football League.

The only goal of the match at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium Uyo came from a first-half penalty, which was conceded by Enyimba‘s captain and goalkeeper, Ojo Olorunleke, and expertly converted by Yahya Jabrane in the 39th minute.
