 In 1998, Nigeria hosted the inaugural edition of the AWCON and Super Falcons dominance of the continent rose from their as they claimed the trophy after going unbeaten in the tournament.

Twenty-two years after the heroics where the scored a remarkable 26 goals conceding none, CAF has paid tribute to the victorious ladies.

Captained by the then 23-year-old Florence Omagbemi, the Falcons showed class as they subsequently tore apart DR Congo 4-0 and side stepped Egypt with a 6-0 score-line to finish top of their group with maximum nine points.

The unstoppable Falcons went on to had Cameroon same score-line she recorded against Egypt in the semi-final and defeated the Black Queens of Ghana 2-0 in the final with goals in either half by Nkiru Okosieme and Stella Mbachu.
