The Blue Shacks of Cape Verde on Saturday delayed Super Eagles of Nigeria’s qualification into the 2022 World Cup Africa Zone play-off.

The Blue Shacks came from a goal down to win 2-1 at home against Central Africa Republic, CAR.

Their win delayed Super Eagles progression into the play-off after they defeated Lone Star of Liberia with same scoreline in Morocco.

Victor Osimhen put the Super Eagles ahead in 15th minute after he converted from the spot. Eagles were awarded a spot kick after Liberia goalkeeper fouled attacker, Kelechi Iheanacho in the box with Napoli hitman, Osimhen sending the keeper to wrong side as he slotted in the first goal.

The match became much intensed after the goal as the Liberians rallied to equalise with Maduka Okoye being called to duty with saves to preserve the lead.

Captain of the side, Ahmed Musa scored added time penalty to hand the Gernot Rohr-led lads the needed three points but their joy was cut short with Cape Verde 2-1 win against CAR.

Issac Ngoma put the visitors ahead in the 11th minute but Stophira equalised on the 51st minute before Julio Taveras scored the winner in 75th minute to hand the Blue Shacks three crucial points.

The results meant that Nigeria maintained the leadership of Group C with 12 points while Cape Verde have 10 points.

The Super Eagles will battle the Blue Shacks on Tuesday in the last Group C match. They need only a draw to scale through to the play-off.
