In the latest development, the Governor of Delta State Ifeanyi Okowa has adopted six Olympic bound Nigerian athletes for the Tokyo 2020 Games.

This multiple adoption has become the single biggest boost to the campaign of the Ministry to seek support for Nigeria’s Athelete to the Olympics.

The athletes adopted by the governor are; Ese Brume, Blessing Okagbare, Divine Oduduru, Raymond Ekevwo, Itshekiri Usheorise and Ogho Oghene Egwero and Divine Oduduru.

It would be recalled that the Governor of Delta State was recently decorated with an award of honour for his support for sports development. The State had before now hosted the Africa Senior Athletics Championship in 2018 and the qualifiers series of the Super Eagles of Nigeria and as well Olympic team under Imama Amapakabo to mention but a few. The State also remains at the forefront of sporting excellence in the country emerging overall champions in the last sport festival held in Abuja.

Kaduna State Governor had earlier adopted the Ahmed Bello Stadium for repairs while Deputy Governor of Edo State, Philip Shuaibu recently adopted another athlete for the Tokyo Games.
