Rivers United coach, Stanley Eguma has blamed his side’s 1-0 loss to 10-man Kano Pillars in matchday 6 clash played in Kaduna.

It was mixed feelings for Rivers United’s technical adviser Eguma as the full time whistle was blown and the three points eluded them.

Rivers United fell to a 17th minutes strike from Nyima Nwagua as Kano Pillars inflicted a second defeat of the season on the “Pride of Rivers.”

In his post-match interview, Eguma who said the match was not a bad game said his side lost the game against run of play and blamed the defeat on defenders loss of concetration

“It’s not a bad game, we lost that game against the run of play. We conceded that goal out of the carelessness of the defence but it’s part of the game. We have lost today (Wednesday), we have to go back to prepare for other games.”

“We tried our best to see how we could break Pillars defence but lots of misses of chances cost us defeat.”

Rivers United will next battle bottomed-placed side Adamawa United this weekend and coach Eguma is not unmindful of the threats their opponents possess.

“It’s another game, we have to go back and prepare for that game. The league is still ‘hotting up’ and every point is important. So those three points are very important and we have to work towards it to ensure that we win that game.”
