Manchester United and former Super Eagles striker, Odion Ighalo has described Nigeria leaders as “shame to the world” following Tuesday’s gruesome murder of innocent hapless Nigerian youths across the country who were protesting against police brutality and bad governance.

In a video circulating on social media, Ighalo whose club defeated PSG 2-1 in the matchday 1 of the 2020/2021 UEFA Champions League said that sending the military to shoot at the youth who are peacefully protesting for their rights was uncalled for.

“I am sad and do not know where to start from,” the former Watford forward started.

“I am not the kind of guy that talks about politics but I can’t keep quiet anymore for what is going on back home in Nigeria. I will say Nigeria government, you guys are shame to the world for killing your own citizens, sending military to the street to kill unarmed protesters because they are protesting for their rights? This is uncalled for.

President Buhari is yet to address Nigerians on the unrest

“Today, 20th of October, 2020, you people will be remembered in history as the first government that sent military to the city to start killing their own citizens. I am ashamed of this government. We are tired of you guys and we can’t take this anymore.”

The 2019 Africa Cup of Nations golden boot winner therefore called on the international community to intervene in the genocide going on in his country.

“I am calling on the UK Government, calling all those leaders in the world to please see what is going on in Nigeria and help us. Help the poor citizens. The government is killing their own citizens. We are calling you guys, UN, to see to the matter.”

He also made a passionate appeal to Nigerians back home to ensure that they are safe advising them to stay indoors because the government will continue to kill unless the global leaders reacted.

“And I want to call on my brothers and sisters back home to keep safe. Be indoors, please don’t come out because these governments, they are killers and they will keep killing if the world did not talk about this.

“God bless you all and remain safe. One Nigeria, we move.

Report claims that 20 persons were killed in Lekki, a wealthy suburb area in Lagos with over 50 persons injured when armed military opened fire on the peaceful Nigeria youths who are protesting demanding an end to a Nigeria Police unit, the Special Anti-robbery Squad, SARS, which has been brutalising people especially young ones.

Scores were also killed in some area in Abuja, the countries capital. As the unrest continues into day 14, the President of the country, Mohammadu Buhari is yet to address the citizens
