Nigeria’s Super Eagles have paid the price for the embarrassing home defeat the team suffered against Central Africa Republic, CAR on October 7 as they have dropped two places in latest FIFA Ranking, www.bestchoicesports.com.ng can report.

In the ranking released on Thursday for the month of October, the three-time Africa champions dropped from 34th in the world to now place 36th with 1478 points no thanks to 1 -0 loss to CAR in the matchday 3 of the 2022 World Cup qualifier in Lagos.

Nigeria was placed 34th best football nation in the world in the September ranking with a total of 1492 points and 4th in Africa.

But the coach Gernot Rohr-led lads have moved down on the ladder and are now 5th in Africa despite recording a 2-0 win against the Central Africans in Cameroon on Sunday, October 10.

CAR, after their victory against Eagles moved up to 115 from 124 position they were in September ranking.

In a statement on Thursday, FIFA said its latest ranking was influenced by the performances of countries in the 160 international matches played in October.

“October 2021 was a busy month in international football, with qualifiers for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, friendlies, and the final rounds of the UEFA Nations League all on the agenda.

“A total of 160 fixtures were played, the impact of which can be seen on the FIFA/Coca-Cola World Ranking,” FIFA said.

Senegal ranked 20th on the log, maintaining their first position in Africa, followed by Tunisia with 27th on the global ranking log.

Morocco, 29 and Algeria placed 30 all came ahead of Nigeria after impressive performances in the month under review.

Belgium and Brazil remain 1st and 2nd respectively in the World while England dropped from 3rd to 5th as France become 3rd while European Champions Italy are 4th and England drop to 5th.

The next FIFA rankings will be released on November 25th, 2021.
