The Minister of Women Affairs and Social Development, Mrs Dame Pauline Tallen, has commended the IBB Ladies Close on her 20^th anniversary.

The minister gave the commendation Friday at the IBB International Golf Country Club Friday in Abuja during a tee off exercise to mark the 20^th anniversary of the IBB Ladies Close Championship.

Dame Pauline who expressed joy and happiness over the championship, said she felt not too happy that she had not been able to play golf for weeks but promised to be active as her official engagements would allow her.

“I want to congratulate the women Ladies Close for organising this championship and I encourage others to join these wonderful ladies where we meet and exercise. Golf is really interesting, exciting and fulfilling.

“I feel excited being here because as a golfer, I wish to be coming here every day to play, unfortunately because of my tight schedule in office, I have not been able to come and play for four weeks now.

“I believe our ladies are going to do their best and sustain this championship which has been on for decades. This is their 20^th edition and that shows they have come a long way, so I commend them,” the minister said.

On her part, the wife of the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Salamatu Gbajabiamila, described the championship as amazing adding that one day she would be a golfer.

“It is amazing and fantastic having the women out and playing golf at this time and exercising. One day I will play golf but I do not know because it looks like golf is addictive and I do not want to give up my other sports. But one day, I will play golf.

“This kind of event is good for networking. Apart from relaxing and releasing the stress of working in your offices, it is also a good way to exercise,” she said.

The 20^th edition of IBB Ladies Close Championship commenced Saturday October 18 and will end on 19 October, 2019.
