The Nigeria Professional Football League, NPFL, has cautioned players in the league to thread carefully on their contractual obligations with their clubs.

The league body stated this in a statement by the CEO, Davidson Owumi, advised players and their intermediaries on the implications of signing attestation documents noting that they will be held accountable for endorsements made in the document.

Owumi enjoined players to be professional in the discharge of their contractual obligations to their employers and clubs at all times in order to be legally and justifiably grounded in their claims for overdue payables.

“This is an important and challenging issue that we must all help in sensitising our players and wards to be fully aware of. Alot of our players ignorantly sign away their rights.

“We are out to help players realise their rights and privilege and also enlighten them on their obligation and strict adherence to their contractual terms to avoid creating problems for themselves.”
