Edo Queens Football Club of Benin today secured their first win under interim Manager Grace Kurah as they defeated Naija Ratels by a lone goal in the ongoing NWFL premiership Super six tournament in Benin.

Hard working attacking mildfieder Esther Oyenezide scored the only goal of the game in the 18th minute following her sublime free kick to redeem the image of the sports loving Edo government owned club.

The Benin based Queens would have won by higher goal margin as striker Yemisi Samuel was unlucky to add her name on the score sheet, having created several scoring chances without finishing well.

Edo Queens now have four points after four engagements, drawing goalless with Delta Queens on first day before losing the second to Nasarawa Amazons by a lone goal, performance which was unacceptable to owners of the Club, leading to the Edo sports Commission chairman Yusuf Alli sacking the head coach Wemimo Matthew imminently.

The new Technical crew led by coach Grace Kukah however effected quick changes and improvements but were not enough to stop the Queens from Bayelsa state who are already primed for the coveted title ,as they succumbed to a 2-1 defeat to them. But Edo Queens raised their game to beat Naija Ratels 1-0 to keep their pride. They have Rivers Angels to contend with in their last game on Sunday.

Meanwhile,Bayelsa Queens have extended their dominance in the super six tournament, stamping their authority in the nation’s women premier league with a 1-0 victory over Delta Queens in their fourth game.

Gift Monday scored the only goal of the match in the 47th minute of play to give Bayelsa Queens hundred percent victory. It was her 7th goal and highest of the ongoing NWFL Premiership Super six tournament.
