By Amaechi Agbo

Afraid of the backlash, vituperation and condemnation from Nigeria football followers following the inglorious showing of the Flying Eagles at the ongoing FIFA U-20 World Cup in Poland, the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, Monday disabled the comment box of its instagram post concerning the teams elimination, Bestchoicesports.com.ng can report authoritatively.

Immediately after the Round of 16 match which the Paul Aigbogun’s lads lost 2-1, the NFF had posted the following “FT Senegal 2-1 Nigeria . Our Flying Eagles are out of the #U20WC. Thank you all for your support #SoarFlyingEagles #Team9jaStrong” on its Instagram and atwitter accounts.

But aware of the backlash of negative comments in the Instagram, the federation disabled the comment box of the post thereby forcing Nigerians and visitors to the post to like it instead.

At the time of this report, the post has received 1, 430 likes.

Best Choice Check shows that while comments were made in previous posts in the handle, no single comment was made on the Flying Eagles loss to Senegal post.

For instance, the team lineup of the Flying Eagles before the match received 209 comments and 1, 548 likes.

It was a different scenario in the NFF Twitter account (@thenff) where a check by this paper showed that the federation deleted 19 comments from the same post it made on Instagram which it shared on the Twitter handle too.

Best Choice Sports understood that NFF deleted the post as the 19 comments were marked with “This Tweet is not available” at the time of the report.

The deleted comments came in between the comments made by Felxy Tony and Fekzy Concept with 42 minutes “elapsing” before the next post.

The comment made before the 19 others were deleted was the one made by Flexy Tony (IBUKUNOLUWA) @Anthkpak1 “Oh nigeria spoiled my ticket now
I played nigeria not to score and they score one OMG and I played Senegal 3-0 nigeria,” at 10:42pm, on Tuesday, June 3rd, 2019

Thereafter the next comment made by Fekzy Concept @Oriyomiagbaje who said “We had the best u20 team in 2005 , the Mikel generation, they played with their hearts and souls, infact you would be happy to burn your fuel to watch them play cos They with vision.” The comment was made at 11:24pm Tuesday, June 3 2019.

A Whatsapp post “NFF are scared of reading harsh criticisms from soccer loving Nigerians that’s why they disabled the comment button on their IG page while announcing fumbling Flying Eagles exit. So you can only like the post and am wondering why i will read and can’t bear (bare) my mind as it dey pain me,” is currently trending
